Proboscis Paradise explores the intricate relationship between humans, plastics, and ecosystems. It features large-scale aster-inspired flower sculptures created from repurposed single-use plastic bags, creating a visual juxtaposition of synthetic and organic elements.
 

Installed both indoors and outdoors, these sculptures challenge the distinction between natural and synthetic materials. The scaling up of the flowers is a deliberate process, carefully considering their movement, shape, and formal qualities. This transformation emphasizes the profound connection between humans and pollinators like bees and butterflies.

The artwork was developed and installed in partnership with the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston, Massachusetts.
