Balance is a series of wall-mounted sculptures created from found wood and hundreds of individually placed colored pencil ends.
Each work begins with a piece of wood whose existing shape, grain, and history guide the composition. Repeated pencil fragments are embedded into the surface, transforming a familiar drawing material into a textured field that exists somewhere between artifact, landscape, and object.
The series explores the meeting point between organic growth and human systems — where natural forms, manufactured materials, labor, and time accumulate into a single structure.

Field Notes
I began with a piece of wood offered to me by another artist.
A root-like fragment.
Something already carrying a history.
I added hundreds of pencil ends.
Not drawings.
Not marks.
The remains of making.
Each piece required repetition.
Placement.
Adjustment.
Attention.
The pencil became something other than a tool.
The wood became something other than a surface.
A boundary blurred.
