Commissioned by NYC DOT, Asphalt Asters installed a series of oversized flowers in Flatiron Nomad, NYC. Positioned within one of Manhattan's busiest intersections, the sculptures interrupted familiar patterns of movement, inviting moments of curiosity, play, and pause amid the activity of the event.
Field Notes
Temporary work still has to withstand the weather.
Public space is always in motion.
The artwork has to move with it.
Some ideas become stronger after they fall over once.
The sculptures live on.
