Observed

Butterflies landed on the sculptures throughout installation.

The moths stayed later.

People looked upward.

A conversation over nachos during the site visit continued at the exhibition opening.

Leaving Wisconsin felt different than arriving.

Field Notes

Dandelions travel.

Plastic bags travel.

Both are carried by forces we rarely see.

Persistence often looks ordinary.

Until you stay with it.

A repaired vehicle.

A discarded material.

A weed.

Each continues through care rather than replacement.

Light changes the way a material is read.

Attention changes the way a place is read.

The installation became a temporary landscape.

The sculptures continue to migrate.

Temporary Installation

Reclaimed LDPE plastic bags, fiber optics,

solar-powered Volkswagen EuroVan

2026

VANdelion transformed a rebuilt solar-powered Volkswagen EuroVan into a temporary landscape of illuminated dandelion sculptures constructed from reclaimed plastic bags. The installation extended beyond the vehicle into the surrounding site, creating a habitat of glowing forms that shifted with changing light and invited visitors to move between the van, the sculptures, and the landscape.
